Apéro, /a.pe.ʁo/, noun:
French evening ritual that combines drinks, small plates and friends. Cheese and cured meats are usually key elements for a successful apéro. Often, L’Apéro last long into the night and turns into dinner itself.
Growing up, Guilliaume lived in Lyon and spent a lot of time in Alsace, Franche-Comté and Rhône-Alpes, regions well-known for their wines and cheeses. Introduced at a young age to some of the most iconic French cheeses and later wine, he developed a strong appetite for authentic regional products. Each place he visited was an opportunity to taste new ones. He would then organize apéros to share his discoveries with others.
Years later, he moved to Victoria. As usual when exploring a new city, he went on a quest to finding a good cheese shop and discovered Ottavio in Oak Bay. He ended up up becoming the cheese monger for Ottavio and expanded his culinary horizon to North American Cheeses.
One of the cultural aspect's Guillaume misses the most from France is the evening ritual called Apéro. That's why he decided to opened up at this location ( 1028 Blanshard Street, Victoria, BC ) allowing him to share his passion for cheese, cured meat and good times!

We also ensure our seafood is ocean wise and sustainably harvested whenever possible. We believe in giving back to our community, which is shown through the regular donations we give to various organizations. Every February we donate a percentage of our High Tea sales in our Restaurant towards the Heart and Stroke Care at Royal Jubilee Hospital, and in March we contribute in the same manner for Cancer Care at RJH.
In addition, we donate a percentage of our Ice Cream dessert sales towards the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association every November, and we also do accept donations for the VTRA year round by selling novelty horse key chains.
